Chapter 1
That was two years ago. Since then I have been trying to forget about her, but my heart won't let me. I know I haven't yet introduced myself, but it's the mystery of the whole thing isn't it? Not to know who is talking or who you run into until sometime down the road you finally introduce yourself?
I see it as that. Why say who I am if I can't find the girl who called out to me? At least she called out to my heart.
Since the two years have passed I've tried to move on from her. I can't help but think that maybe I will run into her again. It might take a long time, but I'm bound and determined that it will happen. Nothing could ever change my mind. Not even my current boyfriend Kevin.
Kevin, the blue eyed, tall 6'4, dark blonde hair hunk. The one that many dream about. You could easily get lost in those eyes. He knows about my little ordeal with the girl. He thinks that I could be right about running into her again sometime down the road, but then again he does think she was probably just a figure of my imagination. Like my mind was playing a trick on me or something.
I know she was real. Every part of her was real. Her face. Her beauty. Everything about her. If only I could prove to Kevin and myself that she was.
I wake up hearing the alarm go off. When I look at the clock it reads 4 a.m. I sigh and rub my face when sitting up. As every morning I look over to see Kevin still asleep. I nudge him a little to try and get him up because if I don't he will never get up on time for work. With him being a heavy sleeper and all.
I yawn as I get up from the bed and walk over to the closet to pull out something to wear. I choose just a simple pair of jeans with a light blue shirt. Before I can turn around Kevin's arms are around my waist and he is kissing my neck. I smile. "Good morning to you too, babe." I tilt my head towards him to try to connect my lips with his.
"Good morning, my love." He speaks in a soft, yet husky voice. I immediately melt at the sound of his voice. It always sends shivers over my body filling me with joy. He returns my kiss, but with a depth that I have never felt from him before. The passion being so intense that my knees almost buckle to the point I would have collapsed if he wasn't holding on to me. I sink into his arms my lips remaining in sinc with his for a few more seconds before mumbling. "You might not make it to work if we keep this up."
He presents me with a sly smirk sending my mind into a frenzy of what he could all have up his sleeve. I give him a weary smile. He says, "I'll save you for desert later." He then walks towards the bathroom to take his shower. While he's in the shower I slip on my jeans and shirt then make my way down the stairs to prepare breakfast and a pot of coffee.
I walk over to the fridge as soon as I get the coffee going to see what we have that I can use to make breakfast. I notice we really don't have much and think to myself, "I really should head to the store for some food." I place that in the front of my mind for a to-do list for later on.
I decide to make Kevin and myself some eggs and toast. Something simple and what sounds nice with coffee this morning. As I start to prepare the food I hear a knock on the door.
I walk over to the door tripping over the leg chair that was down for some unknown reason. I end up hitting my head on the edge of the table. I call out, "I'll be right there."
I move my head to the spot on my head that I hit and notice there is a small amount of blood there. I shrug it off and make my way to open the door.
"Who is it?" I say before I open the door.
A woman's voice responds, "It's Delilah." I open the door and welcome her in. She's such a beautiful woman. Brown hair about 5'6 maybe. I know her to be Kevin's beautiful secretary.
"What brings you by this morning Delilah?" I say closing the door.
"I have some urgent news for Mr. Nicholas" She replies. I nod wondering what the news could be.
"Make yourself at home. He shouldn't be much longer, he was just finishing up in the shower." Walking back the kitchen for three cups of coffee I signal to the kitchen table as an option for her to sit.
I bring out the cups of coffee setting one in front of Delilah and one in front of myself setting the third down on the side for when Kevin comes down from his shower. "What's the urgent news?" I ask curiously taking a sip of my coffee.
Delilah avoids my question by asking me another. "What happened to your head?"
"I tripped just before answering the door." I say with a shrug. My mind curiously demanded to try to get Delilah to answer my question. In most cases she would have, but something seemed off for her to not have. I pushed away my thoughts and turned my focus back on the guest in front of me. "How are you this morning?" I ask as casually as possible.
"Fine, thank you. How is yourself?" She appeared to be fighting an inner battle of one can only guess as she spoke.
"I'm alright. Can I get you anything else?"
"No, thanks. How long did you say Mr. Nicholas would be?" As she asked I could hear a hint of worry and eagerness in her voice.
"Not long. He should be down any minute now. I can go check for you." I say. As I start to get up from the table Kevin made his appearance. He walked over to the table first giving me a quick kiss before turning his attention to Delilah. "What brings you by this wonderful morning?"
"I would like it better if we could speak in private Mr. Nicholas." Delilah responded.
I took the hint and got up from the table. "I hope everything is alright." I say as I make my way upstairs with my coffee. I didn't know what I would do, but that was the only place where Delilah and Kevin could both talk without my over hearing.
I was like that, being very generous and all. I was interested in knowing what was going on, but I knew Kevin would come tell me what it was. In the mean time I walked in our bedroom and sat down leaning back against the headboard of the bed. I picked up the remote that sat on the nightstand by the bed and turned the small flat screen TV on that sat on the desk against the far wall.

It was about an hour later when Kevin finally made his way upstairs. Laying down he pulled me into his arms which startled me awake. I looked up at him and smiled then cuddled into the embrace of his strong muscular arms. Something was wrong, I could tell because he never returned my smile, but I wasn't quite ready to ask him. I knew if I did he would have blown me off anyways by saying "We will talk later." or something along those lines. For now though I was content being in his arms and enjoying quiet time.
We laid in silence for a little while before I decided to ask. "What did Delilah say?"
All Kevin's response was a shake of his head. That meant it was something really big and he probably wouldn't share until everything was calm in his mind. It also meant that in my mind I would be worrying and going over all of the worse case scenarios.
I sighed leaning my head back on Kevin's chest leaving well enough alone.
You could hear a pin drop at the silence that filled the room once again. I closed my eyes and took it in. What I heard though and focused on was the sound of Kevin's breathing. Nothing relaxed me more than that. His breathing had always made me feel content.
